ESEA Playoffs: Nightmares
Author: mavsfan0041

Hey everyone! I’m back with another ESEA review! This time, I’m just going to go ahead and skip to the playoffs. I wasn’t able to get a hold of the replays, and we won both of them anyways. Standard stuff eh? CheckSix alwaystriumphs in the end. We played the compLexity Academy and LaGTT to close out the season. In the first round of the playoffs we found ourselves against a recent opponent, Nightmares. If you recall, our team had beaten them 3-2 in an incredibly close series of games that came down to Mystik taking the rubber match off of KimChiAstrea. I’m sure they came up with some strategies just as we had some time to develop our own. Let’s see how the games turned out.

Results:

xSixVer > NMxHendralisk 2:1

xSixBoO < NMxMasa 0:2

xSixSuppy > NMxnoxn 2:0

xSixMystik > NMxPasildan 2:0

This time around, there was actually a much stronger showing by our guys than theirs. For some reason, they didn’t play KimChi, who they placed enough confidence in to send out for the tiebreaker series in the last meeting. However, Mystik again played very well. The amount of map vision he can secure in the opening stages of the game is unbelievable. He is on top of his creep spread to say the least. BoO showcased an interesting build that consisted of him building random buildings all over the map, then not really using any of them and losing. It was an interesting game, and I would’ve loved to see what would’ve happened had his plan actually come to fruition. Suppy played solid ZvZ. He sensed weakness in both games after his opponent early expanded and then pounced, winning both games quickly. With a 3-1 score, CheckSix moves on to round number two of the ESEA playoffs!
